Step 2: Athens to Patras transportation

 

A. Shuttle bus

The organizing committee of the 10th HTPP conference will schedule a shuttle bus from Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” to the conference hotel "PORTO RIO" on Sunday 6 July 5:00 pm. Please take into account that the number of seats are limited, so travelers are kindly requested to denote that they will use the shuttle service before 30 of May by sending an e-mail to the conference secretary Mrs Eugenia Antonopoulou (nia@plasmatech.gr).

 

B. Travel by bus

i. Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” - Kifisos Coach Station, Athens

Just outside the airport arrivals you use the bus no X93 to the Athens Coach Station (http://www.aia.gr/pages.asp?pageid=983&langid=2) serve on a 24-hour basis. Tickets cost 3.20 € and the travel time is approximately 45 min.

Alternatively, you can use a taxi to Kifisos Coach Station. Taxis serve on a 24-hour basis and the taxi fair will be ~35€.

ii. Kifisos Coach Station, Athens - Patras Coach Station

From Kifisos Coach Station (http://www.ktel.org) take the bus to Patras. Buses run every 30 minutes and the trip lasts 3.10 hours. Tickets cost ~ 15 €.

iii. Patras Coach Station - Hotel

From Patras Coach Station take a taxi to your hotel

 

C. Travel by train

i. Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” – Korinthos Railway Station (http://www.proastiakos.gr)
Use “Proastiakos” (light rail service) from AIA “Eleftherios Venizelos” to Korinthos. Trains run between 07:05 and 19:05, every two hours. The route Airport-Korinthos lasts ~1.20 hours, and the tickets cost 8 €.

ii. Korinthos Railway Station – Patras Railway Station (http://www.ose.gr)
Take the train to Patras. The route Korinthos – Patras lasts ~2,45 hours, and the tickets cost ~ 5 € (A seat).

iii. Patras Railway Station - Hotel
From Patras Railway Station take a taxi to your hotel.

 

D. Travel by taxi

Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” - Patras

Taxis are available at the designated Taxi waiting area located at Exit 3 of Arrivals Level. Indicative taxis charges for travel distances can be found in the airport page (http://www.aia.gr/pages.asp?pageid=988&langid=2). A hard estimation for the direct transportation from Athens airport to your hotel in Patras will be about 160 - 180 €. 

 

E. Travel by Car

i. Take the highway (“Attiki Odos”) from the airport towards Athens, and follow the signs to “Elefsina”. Stay on this course for ca 55 Km. (This route bypasses Athens from the north side.)

ii. Near the end of Stage 1, start following the signs to “Korinthos”. (Do not take the exit to Elefsina. ) This course will bring you to the Toll Station at the entrance to the Athens – Korinthos – Patra Highway.

iii. Cross the Toll Station and follow the signs to “Korinthos” for ca 55 Km.

iv. Just before reaching the exit to Korinthos, start following the signs to “Patra”. Stay on this course for ca 120 Km.
v. At the 205th Km from Athens (keep an eye on the roadside markers) you will arrive at a Toll Station (10 Km before Patra). Take the first exit, 30 meters after crossing the Toll Station and follow the local signs to Rio and Porto Rio hotel.
